XOP Black Glen Keith 25 Year Old 1996

A single cask single malt whisky from Glen Keith bottled in 2022 by Douglas Laing for the Black Series of their XOP Extra Old Particular range. It was distilled in 1996 and drawn from a refill butt after 25 long years maturing, that yielded 423 bottles at its extremely promising natural cask strength of 50.5%. Glen Keith was on a great run in the mid-1990s and this should be an absolute ripper.

Tasting Note

Nose

The nose delivers an orchard fruit sweetness alongside buttery pastry and vanilla custard.

Palate

The palate has wonderfully tropical style - pineapple, nectarines and coconut with a hint of spicy warmth.

Finish

The finish lingers long with juicy barely to the fore plus an underlying apple peel and creamy porridge style.
