About the distillery

Tormore Distillery is located in the Speyside region of Scotland, near the town of Grantown-on-Spey. It was founded in 1958 by Long John International, making it one of the newer distilleries in Scotland at the time. The distillery’s striking architectural design—created by Sir Albert Richardson—has earned it listed building status due to its classical and elegant style.

Tormore produces Speyside single malt whisky known for its light, fruity, and nutty character, with notes of apple, pear, vanilla, and soft spices. It was originally built to produce malt whisky for blending, and much of its output has traditionally gone into blends such as Long John.

Over the years, Tormore has seen several ownership changes, including a period under Pernod Ricard. In 2022, it was acquired by Elixir Distillers, a company known for its independent bottlings and strong focus on single malt character.

With its new ownership, Tormore is expected to see a stronger presence in the single malt market, appealing to those who enjoy classic, approachable Speyside whisky with a refined touch.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Tormore single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2011.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 194 liters | New strength 68.8% ABV | 133 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 274 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
