About the distillery

Tomatin Distillery is located in the Highlands of Scotland, just south of Inverness. It was officially established in 1897, though whisky production in the area dates back to the 1700s. The distillery sits at a high elevation, around 315 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest distilleries in Scotland.

Tomatin is known for producing a smooth, fruity, and mellow style of Highland single malt whisky. The distillery primarily uses unpeated malt, although it also produces limited peated expressions under the "Cu Bocan" brand.

Once one of the largest distilleries in Scotland by output during the 1970s, Tomatin has shifted focus to quality over quantity, emphasizing small-batch releases, cask strength editions, and special wood finishes such as sherry, port, and virgin oak.

Owned today by Japanese company Takara Shuzo, Tomatin continues to be highly regarded for its well-balanced and approachable Highland whiskies, often offering excellent value in both age-statement and no-age-statement ranges.

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Tomatin single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2024.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 234 liters | New strength 70.9% ABV | 166 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 332 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
