About the distillery

Tobermory Distillery was established in 1798 and is located on the Isle of Mull, one of Scotland’s Inner Hebridean islands. It is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland and remains the only distillery on the island. Today, it is owned by Distell Group Limited.

Tobermory produces unpeated single malt whisky under the Tobermory label. These whiskies are known for their vibrant island character—typically fruity, floral, and slightly briny, reflecting the coastal environment. The distillery uses water sourced from the Gearr Abhainn river, contributing to the purity and complexity of the spirit.

In addition to Tobermory, the distillery also produces a peated expression under the name Ledaig, but the Tobermory range itself focuses on non-peated, expressive island-style whiskies.

After a major refurbishment from 2017 to 2019, the distillery relaunched its core range with improved quality and fresh new packaging. Tobermory continues to represent the artistic spirit and natural beauty of its island home.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Tobermory single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2007.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 112 liters | New strength 56.1% ABV | 63 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 157 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
