About the distillery

The Speyside Distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery located near Kingussie, in the Cairngorms National Park in the Speyside region of Scotland. Although the name might sound generic, The Speyside is indeed the official name of this small and independent distillery.

The distillery was founded by George Christie, who began building it by hand in 1962, and it was finally completed and began production in 1990. The Speyside Distillery is known for its traditional and small-scale approach, producing whisky in limited quantities using copper pot stills and high-quality ingredients.

The style of whisky produced here is typically light, fruity, and smooth, aligning with the classic Speyside profile. The distillery produces several single malt expressions under labels such as Spey (e.g., Spey Tenne, Spey Fumare, Spey Trutina), with some variations finished in sherry, port, or bourbon casks.

Though small, The Speyside Distillery has built a niche reputation for crafting elegant, boutique-style whiskies, and is especially popular in Asian and European markets.

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of The Speyside single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2023.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 482 liters | New strength 70.9% ABV | 341 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 685 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
