About the distillery

Teaninich Distillery is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky distillery located near Alness, in the northern Highlands of Scotland. It was founded in 1817 by Hugh Munro, making it one of the older licensed distilleries in the region.

Teaninich is known for being a workhorse distillery, producing large quantities of malt whisky primarily for use in blended Scotch, especially Johnnie Walker. It is owned by Diageo, one of the largest spirits companies in the world.

The distillery is unique in that it uses a mash filter instead of a traditional mash tun, one of the very few in Scotland to do so. This allows for a very clear wort, which results in a clean, grassy, and slightly floral spirit. Teaninich does not have many official bottlings, but it occasionally appears in independent bottler releases and in Diageo’s Flora & Fauna series.

Although not as widely recognized as some single malt-focused distilleries, Teaninich plays a critical role in Diageo's blending portfolio and is respected for its consistent, high-quality production.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Teaninich single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2015.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 256 liters | New strength 63.4% ABV | 162 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 362 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
