About the distillery

Tamnavulin Distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery located in Speyside, near the village of Tomnavoulin at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains. The name “Tamnavulin” comes from Gaelic, meaning “mill on the hill,” referencing its origins tied to an old carding mill.

The distillery was built in 1966 during a boom in Scotch whisky demand, and it was designed to supply malt whisky for blends. After being mothballed in 1995, Tamnavulin was reopened in 2007 under the ownership of Whyte & Mackay, a subsidiary of the Philippines-based Emperador Inc.

Tamnavulin is known for producing light, approachable, and fruity single malts, often finished in wine, sherry, or bourbon casks to add depth and complexity. While it spent much of its early life as a blending malt, recent years have seen a surge in official bottlings, including expressions finished in sherry cask, red wine cask, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Tempranillo casks.

Today, Tamnavulin is appreciated for offering affordable yet elegant single malt whiskies, making Speyside’s gentle style accessible to a broader audience.

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Tamnavulin single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2014.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 236 liters | New strength 63.6% ABV | 150 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 334 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
