About the distillery

Strathmill Distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery located in Keith, in the heart of the Speyside region of Scotland. The distillery was originally built in 1891, having been converted from a former flour mill—hence the name “Strathmill,” with “mill” reflecting its industrial roots.

Strathmill is known for producing light, grassy, and fruity single malt whisky, much of which is used in blended Scotch, particularly the J&B (Justerini & Brooks) range. As a result, official single malt bottlings from the distillery are relatively rare, though a few have been released under independent bottlers or as part of Diageo's Flora & Fauna series.

The distillery uses traditional methods, including long fermentation times and tall stills with horizontal lyne arms, which contribute to its smooth and delicate spirit style.

Today, Strathmill remains under the ownership of Diageo and continues to operate primarily as a blending malt distillery, prized for its subtle and refined Speyside character.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Strathmill single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2016.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 228 liters | New strength 62% ABV | 141 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 322 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
