About the distillery

Starlaw Distillery is a grain whisky distillery located in Bathgate, West Lothian, in the Lowlands region of Scotland. It was opened in 2010 by French drinks company La Martiniquaise, primarily to support their blended Scotch whisky brands, such as Label 5 and Sir Edward’s.

Unlike single malt distilleries, Starlaw produces grain whisky, which is made using a combination of malted barley and other grains such as wheat or corn, distilled in large column stills for high efficiency and light style.

Starlaw is a modern, high-capacity facility, capable of producing tens of millions of liters of grain spirit annually. It also houses an extensive maturation warehouse complex for storing whisky casks on site.

While not commonly seen on labels as a standalone whisky, Starlaw plays a vital role in the blended Scotch industry, particularly in providing the grain component that balances and softens malt whiskies in blends.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Starlaw single grain scotch whisky, distilled in 2015.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 251 liters | New strength 68.5% ABV | 172 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 356 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
