About the distillery

Royal Brackla Distillery was founded in 1812 by Captain William Fraser in the Highlands of Scotland, near the town of Nairn. It earned the distinction of being the first Scotch whisky distillery to receive a Royal Warrant, granted by King William IV in 1833—hence the “Royal” in its name.

Known for its elegant and regal style, Royal Brackla produces a rich, fruity, and slightly spicy single malt that often benefits from maturation in sherry casks, particularly Oloroso. The spirit is known for its smooth texture, orchard fruit notes, and refined character, making it a favorite for both blenders and single malt enthusiasts.

Throughout much of the 20th century, Royal Brackla’s output was mainly used in premium blends, but in recent years, it has been increasingly bottled as a single malt under its own name, especially after Bacardi (through John Dewar & Sons) relaunched the brand with a core range that highlights its sherry-matured richness.

Today, Royal Brackla continues to be celebrated as “The King’s Own Whisky,” maintaining a tradition of regal elegance and high-quality Highland craftsmanship.

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Royal Brackla single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2009.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 443 liters | New strength 63.9% ABV | 283 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 629 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
