Old Forester 1870 Original Batch

In 1870, George Garvin Brown established Old Forester on Louisville, KY’s famous Whiskey Row. To commemorate this milestone year in bourbon history, the distillery created Old Forester 1870 Original Batch, the first expression in the Old Forester Whiskey Row series.

Old Forester 1870 Original Batch reflects Brown’s original batching process, which combined barrels from three distilleries to achieve a consistent flavor profile. Today, the distillery selects barrels from three warehouses, each sourced from different production days, entry proofs, and age profiles. These three expressions are then batched together and minimally filtered to create Old Forester 1870 Original Batch.

Tasting Note

Nose

Clove notes spice up a medley of citrus fruits (orange, grapefruit, blood orange), all softened with a delicate, sweet, floral honeysuckle character.

Palate

Baking spices (clove, cinnamon, nutmeg) flow into a citrus-fruit mix and shortbread sweetness.

Finish

Soft, with lingering fruit and spice character.
