About the distillery

Mannochmore Distillery was established in 1971 by Scottish Malt Distillers, a subsidiary of DCL (now Diageo), and is located in the Speyside region near Elgin. It was originally built to help meet the growing demand for malt whisky in blends and shares its site with the older Glenlossie Distillery.

The distillery is relatively modern in design and operates with a high level of efficiency. Its production capacity is significant, but most of its output goes into blended whiskies—especially Haig and other Diageo products—making official single malt bottlings of Mannochmore relatively rare.

One of the most notable releases was Loch Dhu, a black whisky from the 1990s that gained cult status despite mixed reviews. More traditional Mannochmore single malts are light, grassy, and floral in style, typical of Speyside, with a clean and crisp finish.

Independent bottlings of Mannochmore have helped whisky fans appreciate its potential as a single malt, particularly when aged for longer periods or matured in sherry casks.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Mannochmore single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2012.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 222 liters | New strength 57.3% ABV | 127 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 314 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
