The Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask

A titan of the whisky world, The Macallan has been crafting single malt Scotch whisky since 1824. The Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask has been matured in a combination of American oak and ex-sherry casks. Here, the proportion of American oak ex-Sherry casks is higher than in the 12 Year Old Sherry Oak, but no ex-bourbon casks are used as they are in the 12 Year Old Fine Oak release.

Tasting Note

Nose

Creamy butterscotch, toffee apple, candied orange, vanilla custard, and newly felled oak.

Palate

Wood spices (ginger and nutmeg), citrus, caramel, raisins and resinous.

Finish

Oak lingers, warm, sweet and drying.
