About the distillery

Linkwood Distillery was established in 1821 in Elgin, located in the Speyside region of Scotland. It is known for producing elegant and fragrant single malt whiskies, often with a delicate, floral profile and a rich, smooth texture.

Now owned by Diageo, Linkwood has historically contributed significantly to various blended whiskies, including Johnnie Walker and White Horse. Despite its primary role in blends, Linkwood’s single malts—especially those bottled independently—have gained a loyal following for their subtle complexity and aging potential.

The distillery operates both its original Victorian-era site and a more modern plant built in 1971, combining traditional methods with improved efficiency. Linkwood whiskies are typically matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, resulting in flavors of orchard fruit, vanilla, light spices, and gentle oak.

Although official bottlings are rare, independent bottlers frequently showcase Linkwood’s refined spirit, often in natural cask strength or single-cask editions.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Linkwood single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2015.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 236 liters | New strength 63.4% ABV | 149 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 334 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
