About the distillery

Ledaig (pronounced “Le-chig”) is the peated single malt produced by the Tobermory Distillery, located on the Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. Founded in 1798, Tobermory is one of the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland.

The name Ledaig means “safe haven” in Gaelic and is the original name of the distillery when it was first established. Today, Ledaig represents the heavily peated side of Tobermory's production, in contrast to its unpeated namesake, Tobermory.

Ledaig whiskies are known for their bold, smoky character, with notes of sea salt, medicinal peat, charred wood, and underlying sweetness from oak maturation. The maritime climate of the Isle of Mull adds briny, coastal nuances that make Ledaig a favorite among fans of smoky, island-style Scotch.

Although Tobermory Distillery produces both styles in alternating production cycles, Ledaig has grown in popularity for its rich, complex peat profile balanced with elegance and aging potential.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Tobermory peated single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2010.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 327 liters | New strength 59.6% ABV | 195 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 465 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
