About the distillery

Kirkinner is not an actual distillery but a label commonly used by independent bottlers to refer to single malt whisky sourced from Bladnoch Distillery, located in the Lowlands of Scotland. Bladnoch, founded in 1817, is one of the oldest active distilleries in Scotland and is situated near the River Bladnoch in Wigtown, close to the village of Kirkinner.

Bladnoch is known for producing elegant and floral Lowland-style single malts, typically featuring light citrus, grassy notes, and soft spices. Due to trademark restrictions or sourcing agreements, bottlers sometimes use alternative names like “Kirkinner” when they cannot publicly state the true name of the distillery.

Whiskies labeled as Kirkinner are usually single malts, matured in a variety of cask types, and are bottled without chill filtration or artificial coloring, often at cask strength. The use of the name reflects the whisky’s regional origin and distillery character while maintaining discretion in labeling.

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Kirkinner single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2023.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 225 liters | New strength 63.5% ABV | 142 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 318 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
