About the distillery

Jura Distillery was established in 1810 and is located on the Isle of Jura, a remote island off the west coast of Scotland with a tiny population and rugged beauty. The distillery was rebuilt in 1963 and has since become known for producing distinctive single malt Scotch whiskies.

Jura whiskies are notable for their wide range of styles—from lightly peated to heavily peated expressions—while maintaining a smooth, approachable character. The distillery uses tall stills, which help create a lighter, more refined spirit. Typical tasting notes in Jura whiskies include toffee, spice, citrus, and subtle smoke.

The isolated location of the distillery contributes to its unique identity and charm. Surrounded by wild nature, the distillery is central to the small Jura community and has gained a loyal following for its balance of tradition and experimentation.

Today, Jura is owned by Whyte & Mackay and continues to innovate while honoring its heritage, offering expressions such as Jura 10, Seven Wood, and various limited editions.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Jura single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2012.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 215 liters | New strength 63.6% ABV | 137 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 312 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
