About the distillery

Jura Distillery is located on the remote Isle of Jura, just off the west coast of Scotland. Originally founded in 1810, it was completely rebuilt in 1963 to revive whisky production on the island. Today, it stands as the only distillery on Jura and plays a central role in the island’s community.

The distillery is known for its tall stills, which produce a lighter and more refined spirit. Jura produces both unpeated and peated single malts, offering a wide flavor range—from soft and honeyed to rich and smoky. Its proximity to the sea also adds a gentle maritime character to its whisky.

Jura whiskies are often matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, with some special releases using wine or rum casks for added complexity. The core range includes expressions like Jura 10, 12, Seven Wood, and various limited editions.

Despite its isolation, Jura Distillery has become well known worldwide for its versatile style and distinctive island charm.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Jura single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2011.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 157 liters | New strength 56.7% ABV | 89 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 221 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
