About the distillery

Inchgower Distillery was founded in 1871 and is located near the coastal town of Buckie in the Speyside region of Scotland, though its proximity to the coast also gives it some coastal Highland character. The distillery was rebuilt in 1903 and later became part of the Distillers Company Ltd., now owned by Diageo.

Known for its robust and slightly salty style, Inchgower produces a spirit that bridges the Speyside and coastal Highland profiles. It plays a crucial role as a key component in many of Diageo's blends, particularly Bell’s.

Although there are few official single malt releases under the Inchgower name, independent bottlers frequently offer aged expressions, which often surprise whisky lovers with their complexity, slight salinity, and nutty character.

The distillery is not open to the public, and its understated profile in the single malt market makes it something of a hidden gem for collectors and connoisseurs.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Inchgower single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2012.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 241 liters | New strength 63.5% ABV | 153 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 342 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
