Hakushu Distillery, which was completed in 1973 and situated amidst a forest, has been producing whisky that honors the forest’s ecosystem and all of its inhabitants. This distillery is among the highest in the world, located in the heart of Mt. Kaikomagatake’s deep forest in the Japanese Southern Alps. The area produces malt whiskies that are blessed with a unique microclimate, abundant vegetation, and water that has a unique smoothness that is only achieved by the filtration of rain and snow through granite rocks that date back thousands of years.
