About the distillery

Glenkinchie Distillery was founded in 1825 and is located in East Lothian, just outside of Edinburgh. It is one of the few remaining Lowland distilleries in Scotland and plays a key role in showcasing the light, floral character typical of the region.

Known as the “Edinburgh Malt,” Glenkinchie produces single malt whisky that is delicate, smooth, and often described as grassy and sweet, with notes of orchard fruit, honey, and gentle spice. Its lighter style makes it an ideal introduction to Scotch whisky for newcomers.

Glenkinchie is one of the original distilleries included in Diageo’s Classic Malts series and serves as the Lowland representative. It features a large, elegant Victorian stillhouse and is equipped with some of the largest pot stills in Scotland, contributing to its refined spirit.

Today, Glenkinchie continues to attract visitors through its newly renovated visitor center and remains a key part of Diageo’s portfolio, both as a single malt and in blending.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Glenkinchie single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2008.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 217 liters | New strength 52.8% ABV | 114 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 307 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
