About the distillery

Glen Ord Distillery was founded in 1838 and is located on the Black Isle near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. It is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland and remains one of the few that still malt their own barley on site.

Glen Ord produces single malt whisky that is known for its rich, full-bodied style with notes of orchard fruits, malty sweetness, and a smooth, slightly spicy finish. The distillery is a key part of Diageo’s portfolio and is the sole producer of The Singleton of Glen Ord, a brand known globally.

With a strong commitment to craftsmanship and tradition, Glen Ord uses long fermentation times and slow distillation to ensure depth and character in its spirit. The distillery is also notable for its sustainable practices, including energy-efficient technology and waste recycling.

Though much of its whisky is used in The Singleton range, Glen Ord occasionally releases distillery-exclusive or limited-edition single malts, which are highly valued by collectors.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Glen Ord single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2014.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 490 liters | New strength 63.8% ABV | 312 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 697 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
