About the Distillery

Glen Elgin Distillery, established in 1898, is a Speyside single malt whisky producer located just south of Elgin, Scotland. Designed by the renowned distillery architect Charles Doig, it was one of the final distilleries to be built during the whisky boom of the late 19th century. Today, Glen Elgin remains part of the Diageo portfolio and continues to operate with a quiet consistency that reflects its traditional roots.

The distillery is known for its use of long fermentation times and worm tub condensers, both of which are key to developing its signature style—a spirit that is light-bodied, gently fruity, with floral and honeyed notes, and a soft waxy texture. These production choices preserve delicate esters and contribute to Glen Elgin's elegant yet layered character.

Though often overlooked due to its role in blended Scotch—particularly in the iconic White Horse blend—Glen Elgin’s single malt has found a loyal following through select official bottlings and respected independent releases. It is considered a hidden gem of Speyside, offering an honest, classic representation of the region’s traditional whisky-making craftsmanship.

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Glen Elgin single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2013.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 236 liters | New strength 63.5% ABV | 150 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 334 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
