About the Distillery

Girvan Distillery is a leading grain whisky distillery located in South Ayrshire, in the Lowlands of Scotland. It was established in 1963 by William Grant & Sons, primarily to produce high-quality grain whisky for the company’s blended Scotch brands such as Grant’s.

The distillery is known for its advanced column stills, allowing it to produce a light, clean, and elegant spirit at scale. Girvan was one of the most technologically advanced grain distilleries of its time and remains a key player in the Scotch whisky industry.

While much of its output goes into blended whisky, Girvan also releases single grain expressions under “The Girvan Patent Still” label. These bottlings showcase a smooth and refined profile, with notes of vanilla, toffee, coconut, and gentle oak spice—a style distinct from single malt whisky.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Girvan single grain scotch whisky, distilled in 1997.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 116 liters | New strength 47.2% ABV | 54 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 162 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
