About the distillery

Fettercairn Distillery was founded in 1824 and is located in the foothills of the Grampian Mountains in the eastern Highlands of Scotland. It is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in the country, originally established by Sir Alexander Ramsay.

Fettercairn is known for its distinctive approach to cooling the stills during distillation. The distillery uses a unique ring of cold water around the neck of the copper stills to create increased reflux, which helps produce a lighter and purer spirit. This innovation sets Fettercairn apart in terms of both technique and flavor.

The whisky style of Fettercairn is typically elegant and tropical, often with notes of ripe bananas, exotic fruits, and soft spice. The distillery emphasizes natural color and non-chill filtration, and in recent years, it has released a range of age-stated single malts that showcase its refined Highland character.

Fettercairn is currently owned by Whyte & Mackay, part of the Emperador group, and continues to be an important name in Highland single malt production.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Fettercairn single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2011.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 211 liters | New strength 62.8% ABV | 132 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 299 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
