About the distillery

Croftengea is not a standalone distillery, but rather a heavily peated style of single malt whisky produced at the Loch Lomond Distillery in the Highlands of Scotland. The name "Croftengea" is used to distinguish this specific smoky style from other unpeated or lightly peated whiskies made at the same distillery.

The Loch Lomond Distillery, founded in 1964, is known for its unique and highly flexible production setup. It has a variety of still types—traditional pot stills, Lomond stills, and continuous stills—allowing it to produce multiple whisky styles under one roof. This includes names like Inchmurrin, Inchfad, Craiglodge, and Croftengea, each with different levels of peat and flavor profiles.

Croftengea is the most heavily peated expression from Loch Lomond, typically showcasing bold notes of smoke, ash, earthy peat, and medicinal tones, while still retaining a hint of fruitiness and Highland malt character. These whiskies are mostly available through independent bottlers, as the distillery rarely releases them under the Croftengea name officially.

Today, Croftengea offers whisky lovers a unique chance to experience Highland-style peated whisky, distinct from Islay peat, with a more industrial, smoky, and spicy character.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Croftengea single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2006.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 179 liters | New strength 55% ABV | 98 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 253 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
