About the distillery

Braeval Distillery is located in the Speyside region of Scotland, near the village of Chapeltown in Banffshire. It was founded in 1973 by Chivas Brothers (now part of Pernod Ricard) to produce malt whisky for blending, particularly for Chivas Regal and other house blends.

Originally named Braes of Glenlivet, the distillery changed its name to Braeval in 1994 to avoid confusion with the nearby Glenlivet Distillery. Sitting at an altitude of over 350 meters, Braeval is one of the highest distilleries in Scotland, which contributes to its cool fermentation climate and clean spirit character.

Braeval was designed for high-efficiency operation and can be run by a minimal number of staff. The whisky produced here is known for being light, floral, and fruity, ideal for blending but also appreciated in rare single malt releases.

Although it remains largely a blending distillery, independent bottlers have occasionally released Braeval single malts, showcasing its elegant and delicate Speyside style.

Today, Braeval continues to serve as a key contributor to Chivas Brothers’ blending portfolio while quietly gaining interest among single malt collectors.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Braeval single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2010.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 260 liters | New strength 69% ABV | 179 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 368 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
