About the distillery

The Borders Distillery is located in the town of Hawick, in the Scottish Borders region. It officially opened in 2018, becoming the first whisky distillery in the Borders since 1837, marking the return of whisky-making to the region after nearly two centuries.

The distillery was founded by The Three Stills Company, with a mission to revive the whisky heritage of the Borders area. It was built in a restored Victorian industrial building and equipped with traditional copper pot stills, combining heritage and modern design.

Borders Distillery produces both single malt and single grain whisky, and is also known for making gin and vodka. The single malt is crafted from 100% Scottish barley, with fermentation and distillation all done on-site, ensuring full control over quality.

Today, The Borders Distillery represents a new chapter in Lowland whisky production, bringing attention back to a historically overlooked region with a commitment to traditional methods and local provenance.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Borders single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2024.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 222 liters | New strength 63.5% ABV | 141 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 314 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
