About the distillery

Bonnington Distillery is a relatively new addition to Scotland’s whisky landscape, located in Leith, Edinburgh—a historically significant area once central to the country’s whisky export trade. Operated by The Leith Distillery Company (part of the Bonnington Group), the distillery marks a revival of single malt production in Leith after more than a century of silence.

Established with a modern yet heritage-driven approach, Bonnington Distillery uses traditional copper pot stills and sources water from local Scottish supplies. Though newly founded, it embraces peated styles to distinguish itself, producing single malt whisky with a smoky, maritime character.

Bonnington’s commitment to quality, small-batch production, and the resurgence of Leith’s whisky history make it a rising name to watch in the craft whisky movement.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Bonnington single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2023.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 200 liters | New strength 63.5% ABV | 127 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 282 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
