About the distillery

Blair Athol Distillery is located in the town of Pitlochry, in the Highlands region of Scotland. It was originally founded in 1798 under the name Aldour, and later re-established as Blair Athol in 1825. This makes it one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland.

The distillery draws its water from the Allt Dour burn, which flows from the slopes of Ben Vrackie. Blair Athol is best known for producing a rich, nutty, and sherried style of single malt, which plays a key role in the Bell’s blended Scotch whisky, one of the UK’s most popular blends.

Although the majority of its output is used for blending, Blair Athol has gained recognition through limited single malt releases, especially in the Flora & Fauna series and various independent bottlings. These often feature sherry cask maturation, enhancing its naturally full-bodied and spicy character.

Today, Blair Athol remains an important part of Diageo’s whisky portfolio and continues to attract visitors with its historic charm and distinctive Highland style.

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Blair Athol single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2012.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 205 liters | New strength 62.1% ABV | 127 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 290 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
