About the Distillery

Ben Nevis Distillery was founded in 1825 by 'Long John' McDonald at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles, near Fort William in the Highlands of Scotland. With a dramatic location and long history, it is one of Scotland’s oldest licensed distilleries.

Ben Nevis is known for producing a rich and full-bodied Highland style of single malt, often with a slightly waxy and meaty character. For a period in the mid-20th century, the distillery uniquely operated both pot stills and a Coffey still, allowing it to produce both malt and grain whisky under one roof.

Since 1989, Ben Nevis has been owned by Japanese company Nikka, and much of its spirit is exported to Japan. However, in recent years, single malt bottlings from Ben Nevis have become increasingly sought after by collectors and whisky enthusiasts worldwide.

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Ben Nevis single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2014.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 520 liters | New strength 71.3% ABV | 371 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 740 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
