Ardbeg Wee Beastie is a bold and youthful single malt Scotch whisky from the renowned Islay distillery, Ardbeg. Introduced as a permanent addition to Ardbeg's Ultimate Range, this expression is aged for just five years, making it one of the youngest in the lineup. Bottled at 47.4% ABV, it is non-chill filtered and matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. Despite its youth, Wee Beastie is designed to deliver a formidable taste experience, emphasizing Ardbeg's signature peaty and smoky characteristics.

Tasting Note

Nose

The nose is robust with intense peat smoke, reminiscent of a coastal bonfire. There are meaty aromas such as barbecued pork, smoked brisket, and beef jerky, complemented by hints of lemon pith, black pepper, and a slight vegetal quality. Subtle notes of toffee, vanilla, and nuts like walnuts add complexity.

Palate

The palate is creamy and sweet initially, with flavors of vanilla ice cream and honey.

Finish

The finish is long and oily, dominated by smoky and salty notes. There is a lingering spiciness, akin to black peppercorns, and a faint whisper of menthol. The finish also carries a subtle sweetness reminiscent of lemon sherbet and freshly cut peat.
