The Ardbeg Twenty Something 23 Year Old Committee Release is a highly sought-after single malt whisky from the Ardbeg distillery, located on the Isle of Islay. This particular release was distilled in the early 1990s and bottled in 2017, making it a 23-year-old whisky. It was selected by Distillery Manager Mickey Heads and matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks. The whisky is bottled at 46.3% ABV and was made exclusively available to members of the Ardbeg Committee.

Tasting Note

Nose

Significant smoke, red grapes, raisins, dried figs, leather, seaweed, salt, iodine sea breeze, warm tarmac, and cookie dough. The sherry influence is evident with the presence of dried fruits and leather.

Palate

Thick and creamy texture with flavors of smoked cherry sweets, raspberry jam, grapes, dried figs, fresh tobacco leaves, latte, leather, wood notes, milk chocolate, and yeast dough bread. Mild pepper and nutmeg add a spicy touch.

Finish

Long and creamy with slightly tart wood notes, fruit scents, and pleasantly warming smoke.

This whisky is noted for its balance between the intense smoke and the rich, fruity notes from the sherry casks, making it a unique and memorable expression from Ardbeg.
