The Ardbeg Drum Committee Release is a limited edition single malt Scotch whisky that has been finished in ex-rum casks, which is a unique twist for the distillery. This release is part of Ardbeg's annual celebration known as Ardbeg Day, which coincides with the Islay Festival of Music and Malt (Fèis Ìle).

Tasting Note

Appearance

The whisky has a golden amber hue, indicative of its maturation and finishing process.

Nose

The aroma is rich and complex, featuring a blend of tropical fruits such as banana and pineapple, mingled with classic Ardbeg notes of peat smoke and brine. There are also hints of vanilla, toffee, and a subtle spiciness from the rum cask influence.

Palate

On the palate, the whisky is full-bodied and vibrant. The initial taste is sweet and fruity, with flavors of ripe banana, pineapple, and mango. This sweetness is balanced by the signature Ardbeg peat smoke, which is earthy and slightly medicinal. Additional notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg add depth and complexity.

Finish

The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of smoky peat, sweet tropical fruits, and a touch of spiced oak. The rum cask influence leaves a slightly sweet and spicy aftertaste, making for a memorable and enjoyable finish.
