Ardbeg Blasda

Ardbeg Blasda is a unique expression from the Ardbeg distillery, known for its lighter and less peaty profile compared to the typical Ardbeg whiskies. Released in 2008, this single malt Scotch whisky is notable for its lower peat level, at 8 parts per million (ppm), compared to the standard Ardbeg 10-year-old, which has 23 ppm. It is bottled at 40% ABV and is chill-filtered, which is uncommon for Ardbeg whiskies.

Tasting Note

Nose

The aroma is gentle and fresh, featuring subtle peat smoke. It includes notes of green apples, lemon zest, and pear, with hints of vanilla, honey, and soft floral undertones.

Palate

The taste is smooth and light, with delicate smoke interwoven with flavors of citrus fruits, sweet malt, and vanilla cream. There is also a touch of sea salt and gentle spices that add complexity to the palate.

Finish

The finish is clean and refreshing, with a lingering hint of soft peat smoke, sweet vanilla, and a touch of oak. It is of medium length, with spicy and warming notes, where lemon flavors reappear along with smoke and pepper, followed by hints of coffee.
