Ardbeg Alligator (1725)

A highly sought-after limited-edition Islay single malt, released in 2011 and famous for its use of heavily charred American oak casks. The name “Alligator” comes from the distinctive scale-like pattern created by the intense Level 4 charring of the casks. Bottled at a powerful 51.2% ABV, this non-age-statement expression delivers an intense combination of peat smoke, charcoal, burnt oak, leather, ginger and dark chocolate, balanced by sweet vanilla and citrus notes. The finish is long, smoky and richly spiced, with lingering coffee and dark chocolate.

A rare and collectible Ardbeg release, Alligator is particularly appealing to peat lovers and collectors of limited-edition Committee and vintage Ardbeg bottlings. The Committee Reserve was initially released exclusively to Ardbeg Committee members before the wider release, adding to its collectability.
