Tasting Note

Nose

The aroma is intense, featuring a burst of charcoal, creosote, and tar, complemented by treacle toffee. There are intriguing vegetal notes such as fennel, celery, and green peppers. As these initial scents fade, hints of milk chocolate, aniseed, and woodsmoke emerge. Adding a drop of water reveals more herbal notes like coriander and lavender, along with the signature Ardbeg aromatic woodsmoke and a hint of fresh, salty sea spray.

Palate

On the palate, the whisky presents a distinctively peppery mouthfeel that transitions into a complex array of flavors including treacle toffee, aniseed, salted caramel chocolate, eucalyptus, menthol, and briar wood. The peppery sensation persists, with the sweeter notes gradually giving way to savory flavors such as charcoal, smoked bacon, burnt toast, and tar.

Finish

The finish is long and lingering, with subtle hints of peppermint and clove, leaving a memorable aftertaste.
