About the distillery

Allt-a-Bhainne Distillery was built in 1975 by Chivas Brothers Ltd. to provide malt whisky for blends, particularly the Chivas Regal range. The distillery is located near Dufftown, in the Speyside region of Scotland, an area renowned for whisky production.

The design of Allt-a-Bhainne is highly modern compared to traditional distilleries, featuring a very functional and efficient layout. The entire production could originally be operated by a single person at a time, showcasing a shift towards modernization in Scotch whisky making.

Unlike many traditional distilleries, Allt-a-Bhainne does not focus on visitor experiences or brand marketing; it remains primarily a "workhorse" distillery, producing whisky mainly for blending purposes. However, in recent years, there have been occasional single malt releases under the Allt-a-Bhainne name, offering a glimpse into its distinctively light, floral, and slightly peated style.

Allt-a-Bhainne continues to be a key part of Chivas Brothers’ blending operations today.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Allt-a-Bhainne single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2013. 

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

 - New bulk 182 liters | New strength 63.5% ABV | 116 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 257 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond.  The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
