About the distillery

Aberlour Distillery was founded in 1879 by James Fleming, and is located in the town of Aberlour, in the heart of the Speyside region of Scotland. The distillery sits near the junction of the Lour Burn and the River Spey, drawing its water from the nearby natural spring, Ben Rinnes.

Aberlour is best known for producing rich, full-bodied single malt whiskies, often matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks. This dual maturation gives its whiskies a distinctive profile filled with fruitiness, spice, and depth.

The distillery emphasizes craftsmanship and tradition, with a core range that includes several age-statement whiskies and the highly regarded A’Bunadh series—bottled at cask strength without chill-filtration.

Today, Aberlour remains a respected Speyside producer, celebrated for its smooth yet complex style and its strong influence from sherry cask maturation.

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Aberlour single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 2012.

The cask was regauged in January 2025, summarizing the following:

- New bulk 485 liters | New strength 63.5% ABV | 308 liters of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 689 x 70cl bottles of whisky.

IMPORTANT:

- Annual cask storage fee as well as any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

- Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Gallery. Funds will be held by Whisky Gallery until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.

- Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.
